Rangers' Hamilton confirms alcohol relapse (AP)

ARLINGTON, Texas. ? Texas Rangers outfielder and recovering drug addict Josh Hamilton said Friday that he had a relapse and had "three or four" drinks earlier this week at a Dallas-area bar, calling it a "weak moment" that he will take specific steps to make sure doesn't happen again.

The 30-year-old player was suspended for more than three years for drug and alcohol use while in the Tampa Bay organization. He missed the entire 2004 and 2005 seasons, but has become one of the best players in baseball on a team that has won the last two American League pennants. He was the AL MVP in 2010.

Hamilton said he has not taken any drugs and had been tested twice since Monday, part of his normal routine. He said he expects to meet with Major League Baseball doctors in New York soon.

It is Hamilton's second known alcohol-related relapse in three years. In January 2009, he drank to excess in a bar in Tempe, Ariz. Before that, Hamilton said he hadn't taken a drink of alcohol since Oct. 6, 2005.

In a tweet on her account, Hamilton's wife, Katie, wrote: "Truly appreciate all the encouraging & supportive tweets we've been getting. God is Faithful and forgives- so thankful that you all are."

Hamilton said his life "in general is based on making the right choices, everything as far as my recovery, as far as my baseball goes, it's all based around my relationship with the Lord."

"You all know how hard I work on the field, I give it everything I have," said Hamilton, clearly struggling to keep his emotions in check. "When I don't do that off the field, I leave myself open for a weak moment. I had a weak moment on Monday night."

Hamilton said he "ended up ordering a drink ... probably had three or four drinks, ended up calling (teammate) Ian Kinsler, to just kind to come out hang out with me. Ian did not know I had been drinking."

When the Rangers acquired him from the Cincinnati Reds in December 2007, they were aware of Hamilton's off-the-field problems and had a zero-tolerance policy regarding his drinking. He is tested for drug use three times a week and has had an accountability partner to support him in his recovery ? though that job is now vacant.

Hitting coach Johnny Narron's primary role was to support the former No. 1 overall draft pick, but Narron left the Rangers in November for Milwaukee.

The Rangers announced last month that Hamilton's father-in-law had been hired as a staff special assistant to be the accountability partner, but Michael Dean Chadwick has since decided against accepting that position because of "family considerations."

Hamilton can become a free agent after this season and has said he will not negotiate an extension after he reports to spring training. He had planned to leave for spring training on Feb. 17, a full week before the full-squad reporting date in Arizona.

Hamilton had a strong 2011 as the Rangers returned to the World Series, batting .298 with 25 homers and 94 RBIs. He missed 36 games early in the season because of a broken bone in his arm suffered on a play at the plate against the Tigers. The season also was marred by the death of a firefighter who fell from the stands while trying to catch a ball for his son that was thrown by Hamilton.

When the playoffs began, 6-year-old Cooper Stone threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Hamilton, his favorite player. The scene brought 50,000 fans to their feet, many with tears in their eyes, and Hamilton himself was touched deeply.

"Just to see the smile on his face and him enjoying himself," Hamilton said after the game, "it was pretty special to see."

Still, Hamilton, whose wife had their third girl last summer, acknowledged during the playoffs that it had been an emotional year, "up and down."

"It's been good for me to see all the guys and how they react and how they respond to things I have gone through ? injuries, tragedy at the ballpark," he said in October. "But those things, you learn from them, you learn how to deal with them, how to cope with them, and you move forward."

$5-billion IPO to make Facebook worth $100 billion - Business News ...

New York: After a long wait and much speculation, Facebook filed for its IPO on Wednesday to raise a targeted $5 billion in a hotly anticipated initial public offering, setting the stage for Silicon Valley's biggest-ever IPO.

Trading in Facebook shares won't begin for at least a few months more. The world's largest social network, a dorm room project for Harvard dropout Mark Zuckerberg that exploded in popularity and vaulted to Silicon Valley's top tier within 8 years, is expected to make its market debut in the middle of the year. Analysts say that Facebook's valuation will fall between $85 billion and $100 billion, making it one of the biggest US market debuts.

In 2011, Facebook earned $1 billion on sales of $3.7 billion. As of December 31, Facebook had 845 million daily active users.

The company crossed the line into profitability in 2009, five years after it launched in founder Mark Zuckerberg's Harvard dorm room. Facebook earned $229 million that year on sales of $777 million, and has remained profitable ever since.

Its revenue in 2011 was $3.71 billion, up 88 per cent from the previous year but at the low end of expectations. Net income rose 65 percent to $1 billion.

Facebook appointed Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan its lead underwriters. Other bookrunners included Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays Capital and Allen & Co.

"We often talk about inventions like the printing press and the television," Zuckerberg said in a letter accompanying the documents. "Today, our society has reached another tipping point."

"There is a huge need and a huge opportunity to get everyone in the world connected, to give everyone a voice and to help transform society for the future," said Zuckerberg, whose $500,000 base salary will drop to a dollar from January1 2013.

"The scale of the technology and infrastructure that must be built is unprecedented."

Zuckerberg's 533.8 million shares are worth almost $16 billion , based on a per-share value of $29.76 that the company assigned to its restricted stock units on December 31.

Facebook's revenue

The vast majority of Facebook's revenue comes from advertising, a combination of search and display ads.

Facebook had previously been expected to raise $10 billion in what would have been the fourth-largest IPO in U.S. history, after Visa Inc, General Motors, and AT&T Wireless, according to Thomson Reuters data.

The $5 billion figure in Wednesday's prospectus was an initial figure and could change based on investor demand.

The prospectus underscored how 85 percent of Facebook's 2011 revenue was derived from advertising. Last year, social-gaming company Zynga, creator of Farmville, accounted for 12 percent of Facebook's revenue.

The company Zuckerberg started in his Harvard dorm room in 2004 that grew into a global phenomenon dwarfs any recent Internet debut, such as Zynga, LinkedIn Corp, Groupon Inc and Pandora Media Inc. Their IPOs had mixed receptions.

The last dotcom player to debut, Zynga, closed 5 percent below its IPO price during its first trading day in December.

Google raised just shy of $2 billion in 2004, while the more recent Groupon scared up $700 million and Zynga managed $1 billion.

Facebook's growing popularity among consumers and advertisers has pressured entrenched Internet companies such as Yahoo and Google. In 2011, Facebook overtook Yahoo to become the top provider of online display ads in the United States by revenue, according to industry research firm eMarketer.

"Zuckerberg is trying to send a bona fides message to techies and users," said Max Wolff, chief economic and senior analyst at GreenCrest Capital. "Very smart and under the radar."

Adele beats 7 new albums to keep top spot on chart (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) ? British singer Adele stood her ground atop the Billboard album chart with "21" on Wednesday despite seven new entries vying for No. 1 this week, including stiff competition from country music singer Tim McGraw.

"21," which has sold more than 6 million copies in the United States since its release in February 2011, notched its 18th week in the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart.

Adele, who has been resting her voice after vocal cord surgery last November, said she will be making her live comeback at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 12.

Country music star McGraw's 11th studio album, "Emotional Traffic" debuted at No. 2, scoring the singer his 14th top 10 album in the Billboard 200 chart and 13th No. 1 in the Billboard Country Albums chart.

New albums from rock band "Lamb of God," singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, "American Idol" alumnus Kellie Pickler, Christian music singer Kari Jobe and soul singer Seal dotted the top 10, along with the "2012 Grammy Nominees" and "Kidz Bop 21" compilation and Drake's "Take Care."

After a couple of weeks in early January that saw low unit sales figures, the chart was rejuvenated this week across the top 10. Still, "21" was the only album to cross the 100,000 copies mark, partially driven by a re-issued deluxe edition released last week in Target retail stores.

Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You") took the top spot on the Digital Songs chart, followed by Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" holding steady at No. 2 and last week's chart-topper, David Guetta's "Turn Me On" featuring Nicki Minaj, falling to No. 3 this week.

Glenbrook Replacement Windows - Free Replacement Window ...

Glenbrook replacement windows can provide you with a whole new look for your home. Regardless of what type of house you are living in across Columbus you can benefit from replacing the glass and frames. Your new Columbus replacement windows will make a big difference to the overall look, feel and design of your home. You can add value, add a better view and add a new whole perspective to living in Glenbrook with window replacements.

One of the biggest reasons to change to Glenbrook replacement windows is for a change of scenery. Your glass and frames are designed to let the natural breezes in all the while letting you see the beautiful views outside. Regardless of whether you are in a one story house in Glenbrook or a five story apartment in Glenbrook, it is always nice to have a beautiful view of your front and back yard. You can enjoy beautiful Glenbrook replacement windows in all areas of your house, from your master bedroom to your backyard patio, from your main sitting room or your basement den.

Replacing Standard Windows

There are a number of options when it comes to Glenbrook replacement windows. You may be looking into replacing your old systems with new ones. This is a pretty standard procedure. Essentially all you need to do is remove the old systems and replace them with new systems. It is possible to do this yourself with a window replacement kit but this is only recommended if you have experience in this type of thing and if you have the time and the tools to do the job right the first time around.

Removing and replacing glass and frames requires time and patience as well as certain tools. You will need to ensure you have the perfect fit, down to the last millimeter and that you have chalked the area before installing the new units. This is extremely important in ensuring a tight fit and keeping your home protected from unwanted moisture and drafts coming through.

Having Glenbrook replacement windows installed this way is relatively simple and can only take a day or two to do so, depending on the structure of your Glenbrook home. There are contractors across Ohio that can do this task for you as part of their manufacturing services. What this means is that you can compare, buy and have your Ohio replacement windows installed all by the same home improvement contractor in Ohio. This is the easiest way to go and offers high quality and professional service as well.

Customized Window Replacement

You may also be looking into changing the design of your windows into something bigger or bolder. This is a little bigger of a job and also a little more complex as you are talking about customized Glenbrook replacement windows. You are also talking about ripping up the walls to fit the new windows if you are replacing windows in an older structure. This means you need to work with a professional in Columbus that has experience with this type of home renovation and is willing to help you achieve the look you want.

For example, you may be looking into replacing your traditional rectangular systems in your kitchen with something a little edgier such as garden replacement units. What these do is offer a shelving unit as well as a window in one. You can place items in front of the window and get a better view outside. This is a popular way to spruce up your kitchen area but it can also be quite an extensive job if your home doesn't already come equipped with this replacement space.

Customized replacement systems are going to cost you more but you will also get more in the end. You will get Glenbrook replacement window units that you have designed and that match you exact needs. For many homeowners in Glenbrook, this is well worth the extra costs.

Or, you might be looking to take out a wall or specific area and add customized Glenbrook replacement windows to this space. For example, you may want to cut a hole in the roof and make a skylight for an extra special touch in your bathroom. Or, you may wish to brighten up your basement by replacing the wall with a few high rise double hung systems to let the natural light in and make this are more comfortable. This is obviously going to cost you more money than standard Glenbrook replacement windows as it is a bigger home improvement task all together.

Whatever you are looking to have done, make sure you compare Glenbrook replacement windows to see what is out there. Many contractors in OH offer these services but you want to be sure you are selecting the right company. Compare quotes, experience and credentials of different contractors in OH and make the right decision.

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry Urged to Undergo Counseling

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry spent hours inside a Los Angeles courtroom yesterday, but little was accomplished in terms of settling on what changes would be made to the pair's custody arrangement.

Gabriel Aubry, DaughterHalle and Nahla

The former couple is at odds because Aubry is under investigation for allegedly shoving his nanny while she cradled daughter Nahla,in her arms. Berry wants her ex to be barred from contact with Nahla until the investigation is complete.

But that determination was not decided by a judge yesterday.

Instead, according to TMZ, the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services submitted various recommendation for Halle and Gabriel, including third party mediation. She was reportedly open to the idea; he was not.

Both parties did, however, agree to send Nahla to counseling, while Berry will undergo therapy on her own and Aubry had already said he was open to anger management courses.

The judge did not rule on the nanny's fate, or on Berry's request to prevent contact between Nahla and Aubry. A full trial may be convened in the near future to deal with these issues.
